Meet the Tutors!
Hi, we’re Sylvanna and Donna, and we’re excited to be offering our tutoring services to help your child thrive academically. With a combined 51 years of teaching experience, we’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students across Sydney, the Central Coast, and beyond, tailoring our approach to meet individual needs and learning styles.
As mothers, we understand the importance of creating a supportive and nurturing learning environment. We believe that every student has unique strengths, and our goal is not only to help them grasp challenging concepts but also to inspire a lifelong love of learning. By building self-confidence and fostering a genuine curiosity, we aim to empower students to reach their full potential.
Our primary focus is in the areas of early literacy and numeracy. Sylvanna specialises in helping young learners develop a strong, confident foundation in mathematics. Whether it’s number sense, counting, addition, subtraction, or problem-solving, Sylvanna uses engaging, hands-on activities and real-world applications to make numeracy accessible and fun. Her approach helps students not only understand math concepts but also appreciate the value and relevance of math in everyday life.
Donna, on the other hand, specialises in early literacy. She is deeply committed to helping children develop essential reading and writing skills, believing that a strong literacy foundation is key to academic success across all subjects. Donna focuses on building both phonemic awareness and fluency, helping students decode words, develop strong comprehension skills, and feel confident in their ability to read and write. Using interactive activities, guided reading, and writing exercises, she ensures that students enjoy the process of learning and gain a deep understanding of language.
In addition to our focus on literacy and numeracy, we are both skilled in teaching a range of subjects, and we approach every lesson with the same patient, personalised method. We work to create a warm, encouraging environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. Whether your child needs help with foundational skills or is ready to tackle more advanced concepts, we tailor lessons to suit their individual needs and ensure they have the right balance of support and challenge.
Outside of tutoring, we both enjoy spending time with our families—whether it’s by the river, walking along the beach, or simply enjoying quality time together. These moments help us recharge and stay connected with our passions for teaching and lifelong learning.
